The Sherlock® Microbial Identification System with Optional Sherlock® DNA Sequencing Software

The Sherlock® Microbial Identification System is used worldwide in clinical and environmental laboratories to identify over 1,500 aerobic and anaerobic bacterial species at under $3.00 per sample in consumables.  The technology is based on gas chromatographic (GC) analysis of cellular fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs).

The optional Sherlock® Bioter Library can identify 6 major bacterial agents of bioterrorism/biowarfare. The system has both U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance for confirmation of Bacillus anthracis, the anthrax pathogen.

Sherlock® DNA is an optional add-on software module to the Sherlock® Microbial Identification System that can identify over 2,200 microbial species by 16S and 28S rRNA gene sequencing. The DNA Sequence results can be combined with the FAME results to identify over 2,500 microbial species by a combined FAME / DNA Sequence report- the first of it's kind.
